The Retirement Villages Association of New Zealand (RVA) represents the interests of owners, developers and managers of retirement villages throughout New Zealand.
RVA’s member villages have around 23,000 villas, apartments and serviced apartments that are home to around 26,000 senior New Zealanders. This is approximately 95% of the sector.
RVA’s mission is to “promote a sustainable retirement village sector for our members”. This is achieved by managing the legislative environment in which the industry operates, promoting the retirement village sector to stakeholders and the public, encouraging sector excellence and best practice, and meeting member needs.
The RVA runs an industry self-management regime that includes regular audits for compliance with the Retirement Villages Act, Code of Practice and relevant regulations.
The NZ retirement village consumer protection regime is recognised as being world-leading. On awarding the Aged Care Group of Malaysia with the status of associate member, the RVA says: “We welcome Malaysia’s Aged Care Group as our first Associate Member in Asia and look forward to working with them.”
